WHAT IS HOT POT?

Hot pot is a delicious and fun communal eating experience that is thought to hail from Eastern China. Typically, it involves a huge bowl of broth placed in the center of a table that is heated there via induction or flame. Ingredients ranging from raw vegetables to thinly sliced meats are also placed on the table (or sometimes on a nearby cart) so that diners can submerge them in the broth to cook before eating.

There are many variations to Hot Pot, but ours here at Yum Yum Hot Pot is a more modern version, complete with your own personal pot and an all-you-can-eat buffet. There are also a variety of sauces and ingredients to create a sauce catered to your taste.

The History of Chinese Hot Pot

Hot pot is thought to have originated in Mongolia 800-900 years ago. The primary ingredient originally was meat (including mutton and horse), and the broth was not spicy. Hot pot subsequently spread throughout China, where distinct regional variations developed and persist to this day.—

HOW TO EAT HOT POT

  1. Order your broth.

  2. Go to the buffet and choose from a variety of meats and other Asian cuisine. Don’t worry, you can always come back for more !

  3. Make your own sauce! We have a wide range of ingredients to pick from and create a unique sauce to your liking. if you don’t feel like going through the trouble of experimenting, you can use our pre-made House sauce.

  4. When you get back to your table, your broth should be there. Turn the heat up to start boiling!

  5. Notice there is also a conveyer by your table that consists of vegetables and noodles, feel free to grab whatever you would like to incorporate into your delicious Hot Pot!

  6. Once the soup begins to boil, you can begin to cook Hot Pot. Its best not to pour everything in at once, but cook the food as you go. Put the tofu and meatballs in first, so they can cook for a longer amount of time, then add a bit of what you chose from the buffet to cook.

  7. Once that’s done cooking (you'll want to wait for a few minutes for it to fully cook), Take it out of the Hot Pot and coat in your sauce! Then simply place in your next items of food to cook while enjoying your delicious Hot Pot!

  8. Repeat until full! ENJOY !!!
